This is a very reliable and trustworthy source. It's by the Center for Disease control which is a federal agency that does research and statistics on topics related to health. In this article they discussed multiple statistics about prescription opioids. They give data on how many people die from prescription painkiller overdoses and how many prescriptions doctors prescribe each year. It also discusses the problems that created this issue and how healthcare providers from different parts of the country disagree on how and when to prescribe these drugs.

A story about a mother of three that loses all of her sons to heroin. It also gives another example of a mother who also lost two sons to opioid addiction. This story gives a real-world example of what implications these drugs can have on people and families. It allows people to be able to relate to those people who are effected by putting them in their shoes. It helps build exigence by getting individuals emotionally involved in the story.

The purpose of this source was to show readers that pharmaceutical companies did in fact have a role in getting many individuals who may have not used the drugs otherwise to use the drugs. The reason this is critical is because these drugs are extremely powerful and eventually lead to individuals getting physically dependent on them. This puts these individuals in a position they otherwise may not have been in. As a result the drug responsible was sued for over 600 million dollars but only ended up paying a fraction of that amount.

This was one of the main sources I used to research addiction and what big pharmaceutical companies were doing. It summarizes much of what the three stakeholders are about. It also used John Oliver's video on opioids as well. It does a good job at giving a basic understanding of the entire problem and the different parts that make up the problem. It also has useful statistics and the graph that was used on the about page to show the trends in overdoses over the years was also from this source.
YANG, CARTER M. "Part I: Baltimore Is the U.S. Heroin Capital." ABC News. ABC News Network, 14 Mar. 2016. Web. 29 Mar. 2016.
This is an article describing the heroin epidemic in Maryland. It discusses how Baltimore is one of the cities that is most affected by this epidemic in the United States. The reason this article is important to this topic is because it related this issue back to an area that is familiar to many people. By relating it to some place close it builds exigence and makes readers care more about the topic.
